Aeroacoustic supersonic aircraft fan design study will be presented at AIAA SciTec 2025

The aeroacoustic properties of a single stage and a two-stage fan design for a civil supersonic airliner were investigated by DLR, primarily using analytical models. The impact of the fan design on the aircraft’s noise certification levels was studied on approach and on two different take-off trajectories - one adhering to current regulations, one optimized using variable noise reduction systems. The study will be presented at the AIAA SciTec 2025.

SENECA at the ICAS 2024

The SENECA project, in collaboration with the EU project Less&More, presented key project results during a joint workshop at ICAS2024 to an international audience. The workshop provided an excellent platform for exchange and in-depth discussions on relevant topics. The team greatly appreciated the many fruitful discussions, which offered new perspectives and valuable insights. We would like to sincerely thank all participants for their engagement and outstanding collaboration. The event in Florence was a great success and significantly contributed to the advancement of both projects.

Contrail aging simulation of a supersonic aircraft

ONERA has finished a study modeling contrail aging from supersonic aircraft. Using advanced simulations, including RANS and LES, the research examines vortex phases, atmospheric fluctuations, and jet dynamics. The results aim to provide data for assessing the environmental impact of supersonic aviation. Read more: https://hal.science/hal-04614634/document
